In poker terms, an action card is a card that shows up the board which greatly helps out two or more players. Poker terminology is normally used when discussing plays or when analyzing plays. Another term used sometimes at the poker table is a boxed card. A boxed card means a card from the deck which is face-up in the pile (all cards in the deck should be faced down).
